The year of Emily, explained

This whole year of Emily thing isn't mean to be "all about me." The idea is to bring people together and do fun things. In the spirit of other people, I decided philanthropy should be part of the monthly events. Last month, I helped out my alma mater, the University of Rochester, by interviewing applicants. I met with eight different high school seniors, got to know them, and then wrote a little review about how they would help UR live out the Meliora motto (always better--fancy, right?).

Me, with long hair.
This month I decided to do something a little different. I had been contemplating cutting my hair, so I chopped off 9 inches and donated it to the Pantene & American Cancer Society Beautiful Lengths program.

One ponytail chopped, one to go.

Brittany and I, after the haircut.
The whole point of the year of Emily is to bring people together, so Brittany accompanied me for the chopping. Thank you, Brittany, for being the official photographer of the event.

Any philanthropic ideas for me to participate in, let me know!
